Drought Forces Closure Of Yala National Park: Authorities Say Park Will Remain Closed For Two Months

The Yala National Park will be closed for two months from today, due to the prevailing drought conditions, Yala National Park Authorities said.

The Yala National Park is slated for customary closure from September 1 to approximately October 15, which is the height of the drought season.

Block 1 and 2 will remain closed while Galge and Yala West Entrances will remain open for visitors, the Yala National Park said.

The months of September through to October also happens to be the breeding season for leopards, Yala National Park authorities said, allowing park officials time to focus on the animals.
