The ‘Indian Ocean Conference-2017’ will begin today at the Temple Trees and end on and 1st September.
More than 300 delegates from 40 countries will attend the conference, which discusses peace and security of the Indian Ocean Region.
The opening session will be held on 31st August at 6 p.m. under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe while the chief guest at the final session on 1st September is President Maithripala Sirisena.
Themed peace, development and prosperity, the conference will discuss ways and means to stop the transportation of drugs by drug traffickers through the Indian Ocean.
The conference is organized by India Foundation with the full support of the Sri Lankan government.
