Medical Faculty Students’ Action Committee Convener Ryan Jayalath was further remanded until August 31 (tomorrow) by the Maligakanda Magistrate this morning.

Jayalath was arrested on August 18 after he surrendered to Police through his lawyers.

An arrest warrant was issued on Jayalath’s arrest on August 10, for forcibly entering the Health Ministry and causing damage to property.

On June 21, students led by the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF) stormed the Health Ministry premises and caused damage to property.

The students were protesting against the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM).
