Metropolitan Chief Engineer Nihal Dharmaratne informed the Presidential Commission inquiring into the Treasury Bonds issue that the telephone records provided by Perpetual Treasuries had been tampered with.
Dharmaratne gave evidence before the commission representing the company which installed the call logger system at Perpetual Treasuries.
Perpetual Treasuries, the company at the centre of the Treasury Bonds controversy, previously handed over its telephone records to the Presidential Commission for further investigations.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID), as part of the ongoing investigations, had checked the authenticity of the telephone records with Metropolitan, the company which installed the system at PTL in June, 2015.
Metropolitan had even sought the assistance of its parent company in India, with regard to the matter.
It was after this examination that the company informed the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCOI) that telephone records provided by PTL had been tampered with.
