A heated exchange occurred between Petroleum Resources Development Minister Arjuna Ranatunga and Sport Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera at the weekly Cabinet briefing yesterday (29) over the current state of Sri Lanka cricket.
The argument broke out after the former World Cup cricket captain Arjuna Ranatunga objected to a proposal brought by Sport Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera to renovate the Sugathadasa Stadium.
The argument comes just a day after Minister Ranatunga fired off a four-page missive to the President on the current status of Sri Lanka Cricket, entreating the President to take action to clean up the administrative body.
Ranatunga is reported to have told Jayasekera that the downfall of Sri Lanka Cricket had come with the election of unsuitable people to office.
Ranatunga has been vociferous in his attack on Sri Lanka Cricket President Thilanga Sumathipala and had publicly called for his removal several times.
