Medical Faculty Students’ Action Committee Convener Ryan Jayalath was further remanded till August 30 by the Maligakanda Magistrates’ Court today.

He was arrested on August 18 after he surrendered himself to the Maradana Police following a warrant issued on his arrest on August 10.

Jayalath was wanted for forcibly entering the Health Ministry premises on June 21 and causing damage to the property.

On June 21, students protesting the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) stormed the Health Ministry premises and caused damage to property.

Almost 100 students were injured in the ensuing clash between Police and the students.
