Former Minister Jayaratne Herath has been removed from his post as Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) organiser for the Polgahawela electorate.

This follows his membership with the Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna, formed by members of the Joint Opposition (JO).

The former MP left the ranks of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa to join President Maithripala Sirisena in 2015.

However yesterday, he had reneged on his promise and moved back with the JO, citing disappointment with the government.
