President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will make a special statement to the country on September 04, unveiling the government's vision until 2025, Finance State Minister Eran Wickremaratne said.
The statement will also mark the second anniversary of the MOU signed between the two main parties of the national unity government - the United National Party and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
The two parties entered into an agreement in September, 2015, following the Parliamentary election on August 17.
It is also an indication that the two main parties will stick to the common agreement until until 2025, despite national and local government elections scheduled in between.
The State Minister also added that the government was in the process of introducing reforms to the economy with the intention of ensuring a strong foundation for the future.
He said the government expected around USD 400 million this year as a result of the Hambanthota port development agreement.
"The next year, another 600-700 million USD will come in,' he explained.
