Medical Faculty Students' Action Committee Convener Ryan Jayalath was today re-remanded by the Maligakanda Magistrates’ Court till August 25.

Jayalath was arrested after he surrendered through a lawyer on August 18 following several warrants being issued for his arrest.

The Medical Faculty Students' Action Committee Convener is wanted by the Police for storming the Health Ministry premises and causing damage to its property.

On June 21, local university students protesting the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine forcibly entered the Health Minister and caused damage to its property.

Police Special Task Force (STF) was called to control the situation and close to 100 students were injured in the ensuing clash.
