President Maithripala Sirisena has agreed to removed Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe from his Cabinet position as the Minister of Justice and Buddha Sasana.
The President has made the decision, following a request by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the UNP Working Committee.
A special discussion in this regard was held between the President and the Prime Minister yesterday, informed political sources said.
The decision was conveyed to Rajapakshe this morning, sources close to the President said.
Minister Thalatha Athukorale is tipped to be appointed as the Minister of Justice while Ravi Samaraweera will get the Ministry of Buddha Sasana.
