Free medical treatment for members of the clergy will continue at the Sri Jayawardenepura General Hospital after Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne intervened to have hospital authorities continue their service.
The management at the hospital had decided to do away with the service and limit it only to clergy residing in the area, but Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Seneratne informed Chairman Dr. Athula Kahanadaliyanage to continue the service.
Accordingly, all members of the clergy will receive free treatment at the Sri Jayawardenepura General Hospital as previously.
The Sri Jayawardenepura General Hospital was a gift to Sri Lanka from Japan. Service at the hospital is free but there is also paying section.
