Prime Minister Ranil Wickreesinghe has finally requested President Maithripala Sirisena to remove Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe from his Cabinet position.

The development took place after the UNP Parliamentary group meeting last evening at Temple Trees, Asian Mirror reliably learns. 

The Prime Minister came under severe pressure from the UNP rank and file to remove Rajapakshe from his Cabinet position as the Justice Minister.

A special meeting is currently underway between the President and the Prime Minister to discuss Rajapakshe's fate. It is learnt that a different Cabinet position will be given to Rajapakshe 

The Prime Minister informed the UNP Parliamentary group that a final decision on Rajapakshe would be made in a day or two.
