The United National Party (UNP) Parliamentary group is expected to meet at the Temple Trees this evening to discuss several matters including the no-confidence motion brought against Justice and Buddhasasana Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.
The meeting will be chaired by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
On August 17, the Working Committee and Parliamentary Group of the UNP unanimously adopted a five-point resolution brought against Justice and Buddhasasana Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.
Among the points listed against him is his inability to prosecute top members of the previous regime, his failure to bring in new laws to tackle bribery and corruption and his conduct that has brought disrepute to the UNP.
Wickremesinghe informed the party Working Committee last week that he would convey his opinion on Rajapakshe's matter to the party at the Parliamentary group meeting today.
