Development Assignments Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama said that in all his twenty five-years in politics he has not met an opposition as bankrupt as the current one.
“All they know to do is hoot and scream and jeer in Parliament about irrelevant issues,” the Minister told reporters yesterday. “They do not have the answers to anything.”
Minister Amunugama said there was a way people were expected to behave when in Parliament but the opposition were behaving as though they were in the Provincial government.
“It’s not just us who are saying these things,” he added, “even those on that side are saying they are ashamed of the way they opposition is behaving.”
The Joint Opposition (JO) has disrupted sessions in Parliament several time, forcing the Speaker to call for adjournment.
