Health Minister Rajitha Senaratme yesterday slammed at Women and Child Affairs Minister Chandrani Bandara for hiring Additional Solicitor General Dappula de Livera's wife to the latter's ministry.

ASG Livera questioned Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake at the Presidential Commission to investigate into the bond issue earlier this month and asked how the Minister lived in a super-luxury apartment funded by Arjuna Aloysius.

Hitting out at the conduct of the Attorney General's Department, Senaratne asked how all these 'commissions' were acting only against the UNPers.

He also said it was ridiculous that Bandara's ministry had hired Livera's wife to a senior position.

Responding to Senaratne's claims, Bandara had said she was well qualified to be in that position and no connections should be drawn between her husband's job and hers.

A few other ministers had also spoken in support of Bandara, informed Cabinet sources said.
