Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Hambantota district MP Namal Rajapaksa has called to question the quick release of Finance and Mass Media Minister Mangala Samaraweera’s Public Coordinating Officer Sameera Manahara after he was arrested with a stock of narcotics.

In a tweet the former President’s older son asked the rhetoric question: ‘Get arrested with a stock of narcotics & released within just 2 hours because he is Minister @MangalaLK's PR officer?’

Sameera Manahara and three others were arrested while travelling to a party in a luxury vehicle on Saturday (5) night with a stock of cocaine, methamphetamine pills and hashish.

All four were immediately arrested, but Sameera, and two others were released on bail after one of the occupants confessed the drugs belonged to him.

Finance and Mass Media Minister Mangala Samaraweera has later called for the resignation of his Public Coordinating Officer and Sameera complied.
