Minister of Development Assignments Tilak Marapana and Plantation Industries Minister Navin Dissanayake are slated to replace Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake, informed sources said.

Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake is facing a political storm over his implication in the Treasury bond issue.

Arjun Aloysius, a prime suspect in the Treasury bond issue is said to have paid Karunanayake’s rent at the upscale Monarch Residences.

A no-confidence motion has been brought against the former Finance Minister by 33 MPs of the Joint Opposition.

Pressure is on to have the Foreign Affairs Minister ‘honourably’ quit the Cabinet until investigations into the Treasury bond issue are complete.

It is expected Karunanayake will resign from his position before the no-confidence motion is taken up for debate.
