Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe told Parliament yesterday that there was no objection by any party, to the no-confidence motion submitted by MPs affiliated to the Joint Opposition (JO).
Responding to questions raised by the opposition on the process of the no-confidence motion the Premier said the matter would be handled in due time, in a transparent manner.
“Is the opposition asking the Foreign Minister to take a mat and sit before the United Nations Office in Colombo?” he asked.
“The Speaker will inform the position of the government in regard to the no-confidence motion soon.”
Meanwhile, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya said his verdict on the no-confidence motion would be delivered on Thursday.
“I have referred it to the Attorney General’s Department, we are waiting for a response from there. We will tell you on Thursday,” he said.
