"UNP Is Not A Party Of Rogues, We Will Expel Them;" PM Indirectly Hits Out At Ravi K. In Public

Prime Minister Ranil Wickrmesinghe, yesterday, indirectly hit out at Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake, saying the government will not protect rogues.

"The UNP is not a party of rogues. Anyone found guilty of corruption will be thrown away," the Prime Minister said, addressing a meeting in Hatton.

"That, however, will be done after proper inquiries," Wickremesinghe explained.

"We believe in transparent investigations. We first investigate into allegations against our government. The Attorney General Department can now question government ministers. These things never happened before," he said.

"Sri Lanka is now similar to the US. Some high profile figures of the Trump government are now being probed. If proven guilty, they will be expelled. Our position is also the same."

"Members of our government can't steal. If they steal, they will be exposed."

Alluding to Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake, the Prime Minister said, "but some resign while the investigations are underway."
