Minister of Finance and Media Mangala Samaraweera met with Michael Gies, Director of the Ministry of Development and Economic Cooperation of Germany, Claudia Arce of the German Development Bank along with the German Ambassador to Sri Lanka Jörn Rohde and the Country Director for GIZ, to discuss the proposed German Technical Training Institute to be built in Matara.

 GIZ is a German development agency headquartered in Bonn and Eschborn that provides services in the field of international development cooperation.

The German Development Bank (KfW) is a German government-owned development bank, based in Frankfurt.
