Tweeting his congratulations the Deputy Minister said ‘Great job by the Attorney General’s Department representatives for exposing these corrupt deals.’
Tagging Additional Solicitor General Yasantha Kodagoda on Twitter he added to the same message: ‘ The people are with you. Don’t save anyone who robbed public money.’
Former Governor of the Central Bank Arjuna Mahendran and his son-in-law, an alleged director at Perpetual Treasuries, are embroiled in a case in which Mahendran is accused of ‘insider trading’ that resulted in Perpetual Treasuries making what the Committee on Public Enterprises has called ‘unprecedented gains.’
The Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) appointed to investigate the Treasury Bond issue at the Central Bank has uncovered several potential links between the former Governor and his son-in-law Arjun Mahendran.
The Commission is still investigating.
