Two Policemen were attacked with swords and clubs by a gang that arrived on a motorbike, in Jaffna, yesterday.

The attack took place at Kopai, the Jaffna district, Police said.

The injured policemen have been hospitalised for further treatment and the group's identity has not been established yet.

This attack came a week after a Policeman, who provided security to a judge, was shot at, in the same district.

Similar sword and club attacks were carried out in the Jaffna district, by 'Aava group', several months ago.

The criminal activities of the group ceased after the Police and the military launched a crackdown on its members.
