Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said today the Hambantota port agreement would be signed tomorrow (29) despite agitation in Parliament today.
Parliament was adjourned today until August 4 after the Joint Opposition (JO) protested against the Gazette notification declaring petroleum distribution an essential service.
Under the new agreement, Sri Lanka will have 30 percent ownership of the Port and China Merchants Company will have 70 percent ownership.
The agreed investment value of the lease of the Hambantota port is valued at US$ 1.12 Billion.
