Despite CPC workers returning to work having called off their trade union action, long queues were seen near fuel stations in and around Colombo, this morning.
As a result, heavy traffic reported on main roads leading to Colombo.
Our CPC sources said fuel distribution would return to normalcy today.
"Normalcy cannot be restored just a few hours after a trade union action. Bowsers have to sent out to fuel stations across the country. This takes time," a CPC trade union leader said, this morning.
He added that workers had reported to work this morning as usual and operations were underway, without any delay.
"The military is no longer involved in the operations at the Petroleum Corporation. Our workers have taken over fuel distribution and other related services," he said.
