The Sri Lanka Army today, with the aid of non-striking Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) workers, dispatched a fleet of fuel filled bowsers to the market, despite protestation by striking CPC workers.
The fleet, comprising 15 bowsers, left the Kolonnawa Petroleum Complex at around noon today to refuel fuel stations across the island that had seen a scarcity fuel since Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Trade Unions launched a strike on July 24.
During early hours on Wednesday (26), Security Force personnel, at the request of the Police entered the premises of the CPC, after the government declared supply of fuel as an essential service in a special gazette, issued late last night.
