Opposition Leader Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian R. Sampanthan said the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the United National Party (UNP) must put aside ‘petty political agendas’ to lead the unity government to success.
Tagging Singapore Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, whom he met with yesterday, in a tweet, the parliamentarian said: ‘Both the #UNP & #SLFP must put their petty political agendas aside and come together to lead this process to a success.’
Meeting with the Singaporean Foreign Affairs Minister, Sampanthan apprised him of the current political system and what ails the passage of the national unity government, stressing the need for the two main parties to work together for the success of the nation.
Singaporean Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan was in the country from 17-20 July, where he met with President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Foreign Affairs Minister Ravi Karunanayake and other dignitaries.
