United Peoples’ Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Polonnaruwa district MP Roshan Ranasinghe has announced that he will temporarily refrain from Joint Opposition (JO) political activities.
In a statement issued to the media the MP said that despite his decision to refrain from attending meetings, rallies or any other JO-related activity, his political stance would remain unchanged.
Meanwhile, Chief Government Whip in the Southern Provincial Council Ajith Rajapaksha met with President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday to offer his support.
Rajapaksha, who met with SLFP General Secretary Agriculture Minister Duminda Dissanayake, before his meeting with the President, had hitherto supported the JO.
Rajapaksha has reportedly told Dissanayake that he would work for the furtherance of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, in support of President Maithripala Sirisena.
