Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop will arrive in the country for a state visit, during which she is expected to make an announcement together with President Maithripala Sirisena on Australian assistance on dengue eradication.
‘President Sirisena and I will announce Australian assistance to combat dengue fever in Sri Lanka,’ the Australian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
She added that she would also discuss progress on the implementation of Sri Lanka's reconciliation process, which is ‘critical to its long-term security and prosperity.’
In addition, Bishop will meet with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake and other ministers to discuss security cooperation and explore new economic opportunities in science, resources and energy.
