Activists have expressed outrage at video and photographic evidence circulating online of dogs and cats at the Moratuwa University being rounded up and injected with ‘Ketamine’ before being removed from the premises.
The incident comes on the heels of a similar incident at the Sri Jayawardenepura University, where students alleged University authorities had paid a contractor to round up community dogs at cats and have them removed from the premises.
Moratuwa University students allege the bodies of cats and dogs rounded up at the University were found dumped on land belonging to the University in Homagama.
Attempts to trace the whereabouts of the community dogs and cats rounded up at the Sri Jayawardenepura University have proved futile.
Activists are insisting Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister Faiszer Musthapha is held responsible for the decision to remove stray dogs and cats from public places.
