The proposal by Disaster Management Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa to provide families evacuated from high-risk areas with Rs. 7,500 monthly as rent for the months of June, July and August was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.

Due to the recent floods and landslides, many houses were damaged and families were evacuated from high-risk areas and given temporary accommodation and relief camps.
