The Court of Appeal said today they would be compelled to issue a warrant on Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Galgoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera if he continued to evade court.

The BBS General Secretary avoided attending Court today, saying he feared for his life as there were death threats against him.

The BBS General Secretary is due before court to attend the hearing into behavior amounting to contempt of Court on January 25th.

On January 25th, Gnanasara Thera addressed the open court during the hearing into the disappearance of journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda.

He was arrested and charged with contempt of Courts, obstructing Court proceedings and intimidating a public servant.
