Video footage of a Sinhalese speaking British Sri Lankan fan has emerged on social media. 

The video below shows the Britisher speaking Sinhalese with a number of Sri Lankan fans after Sri Lanka won the match with India last week. 

In broken Sinhalese the British born Sri Lankan fans tells the Sri Lankan fans she is travelling alongside that she studied Sinhalese on her own, from a book. 

Many on social media have lauded the Britisher for speaking Sinhalese even as many Sri Lankans 'pretend' not to know the language, especially when travelling aborad.
