Ranil Jayawardena Re-elected To UK Parliament From North-East Hampshire

A UK politician with Sri Lankan origin, Ranil Jayawardena was re-elected to UK Parliamentarian representing North-East Hampshire in the House of Commons.

Jayawardena, who contested the election on the Conservative Party ticket, obtained 37,754 votes.

"It is humbling to be trusted with the votes of more people this year than ever before in  North East Hampshire," he said, in a statement, on Friday.

"Thank you to local Conservatives for campaigning alongside me every step of the way - knocking on doors and delivering our newsletters - without which it would have been even more challenging to take our positive local message across the whole constituency.

And now, as your Member of Parliament, I stand ready to represent the whole constituency. That doesn't mean that I am suddenly going to agree with everyone. No two people agree on everything. It does mean that I will always do what I believe is best for North East Hampshire and best for Britain.

In the campaign, I said that I'd started my work for you, but there was more to do. I'm now going to get on and do it," he added.
