A member of the Bodu Bala Sena has been arrested for carrying out an arson attack on a shop near Wijerama Mawatha, Nugegoda.
The shop is owned by a Muslim. It was the latest of a spate of attacks carried out against Muslim-owned shops and Islamic places of worships, across the country.
The Mirihana Police arrested a suspect who was identified as a hotel worker in Colombo.
The arrest was made after examining CCTV footage and other evidence gathered from the area.
Meanwhile, Police sources said they are in the process of tracing the whereabouts of Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera, the General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena organisation.
Gnanasara Thera is facing arrest for inciting religious-based violence.
