Former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has categorically denied claims linking his name with the Bodu Bala Sena. 

"I strongly condemn the false story published irresponsibly by a website renowned for spreading fake news, linking my good name with the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) and Hon. Minister for Justice, Mr. Wijedasa Rajapaksa, in connection with the atrocious burning of Muslim owned shops in the recent past," Rajapaksa said, in a statement, this morning.

"I strongly deny such allegations and decry the attempt to tarnish my reputation once again," he added.

"We need have the wisdom to understand the political agenda behind such conspiracies and rise as one nation against such despicable acts aimed at inciting racial disharmony," the former Defence Secretary also said. 

Some websites have claims that the former Defence Secretary and a powerful Cabinet minister are sheltering BBS General Secretary Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera , who is facing Police Arrest for inciting religious-based violence.
