Opposition Leader and Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian R. Sampanthan visited the Ratnapura area yesterday to donate aid to those affected by landslides and floods as a result of adverse weather conditions experienced during the past week.

The move is seen as particularly gratifying as relations between the Tamil dominated North of the country and the Sinhalese dominated South of the country have long been seen as fractious.
