Police arrested two Grama Niladhari officers for stealing goods that were to be distributed to flood victims.

Police also said special teams would continue to monitor the distribution of aid to prevent any such incidents from recurring in the future.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the floods and landslides due to extreme weather conditions has risen to 212, latest figures from the Disaster Management Centre.

It said 717, 622 people were affected, 131 injured and 79 missing from the floods and landslides in 15 districts.
