Death Toll From Floods And Landslides Reaches 211

The number of those that have died as a result of the flood and landslides in Sri Lanka due to inclement weather conditions has risen to 211, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.

A further 91 persons are still missing, while 72 are injured.

Over 700, 000 people have been affected by the adverse weather conditions in Sri Lanka with the onset of the Southwestern monsoon.

39, 092 people have been moved to 239 safer locations and are asked to stay there are until further notice.

1999 houses have been fully damaged by the extreme weather conditions, while 10, 867 houses were partially damaged.

Search, rescue and relief missions are continuing, enabled by the Air Force, Navy and Army.
