Deputy Minister Anoma Gamage lost the Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister's post at the last moment, informed political sources said.
At the reshuffle of deputy ministers and state ministers on Wednesday, Anoma Gamage, the wife of Minister Daya Gamage, was selected to be the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
She was also at the Presidential Secretariat on Wednesday morning, along with other state and deputy ministers who received new portfolios.
Gamage had to leave the premises empty handed as no new portfolio was given to her.
She lost the position at the last moment due to resistance from a senior Cabinet Minister, the sources also added.
Having graduated from the University of Peradeniya as veterinary medicine science, Anoma Gamage currently holds as the position of the Petroleum Resources Deputy Minister.
