Foreign Affairs Minister Ravi Karunanayake says Sri Lanka has received the unending support of the international community during the catastrophe that has hit the country in the form of floods and landslides, killing as many as 193.
The Foreign Affairs Minister said 18 countries had reached out to Sri Lanka with supplies and aid for the half a million people affected by the floods and landslides in 15 districts.
He made these comments addressing a press briefing on the sidelines of welcoming the third ship laden with goods from India this morning.
Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Taranjit Singh Sandu ceremoniously handed over the consignment of goods to the Foreign Affairs Minister.
The donations from India included power generators, dry rations, bottled water and other first response supplies.
In addition, a special medical team on board the ships, a team of divers and the use of two helicopters were extended to Sri Lanka from India.
Pakistan, Israel and Australia are among the other countries that have offered aid to Sri Lanka during this disaster.
