UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon, who arrived in the island earlier this evening, met with PM Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Temple Trees a short while ago.

The two leaders discussed the objectives of Ban's three day visit to the island. He will meet with the President tomorrow and then visit Galle and Jaffna before leaving the island on September 2.

Wickremesinghe is to leave for Singapore in a few hours to attend the 2016 Indian Ocean Conference.
