The Health Ministry is considering the introduction of special baby feeding areas in Sri Lanka.
Breast feeding has increased up to 92 % in 2016 and the target of the ministry is to increase it to 96% or more said Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senarathna.
He pointed out that mothers need a place to feed the babies and the ministry will launch the program at the ministry and hospitals initially. Dr. Senarathna has instructed Director Health Services Dr. Palitha Mahipala to issue the circular, the Government Information Department said.
