A LTTE suspect, who was recently transferred to the Jaffna Prison from Welikada on the recommendation of a government minister, has escaped from prison yesterday.

The suspect, Rasaiah Anantharajah, has complained to two TNA MPs who visited him at Welikada that he was feeling discomfort after he was given an injection at the Welikada Prison. The MPs had raised the issue with a Tamil minister in government, who then recommended the suspect to be transferred to Jaffna.

He was undergoing treatment in the prison hospital when he had escaped.

Police, the sTF and prison officials have launched an operation across Jaffna to apprehend the suspect.
