Filaria is not rapidly spreading in the countryand Sri Lanka has received the certificate of filarial free country, said Health Minister Rajitha Senarathne.

He was answering a question for oral answers by the UNP MP Buddhika Pathirana yesterday at Parliament.

Minister did NOt accept the statement that the government’s contribution towards eliminating the disease was not enough and added that only 661 filaria victims were reported from Sri Lanka during the last five years.
