Southern Provincial Councilor Amarasiri Kuruwegai representing Democratic Party has joined Sri Lanka Freedom Party.

President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed him as Galle District SLFP organizer. 

Kuruwegai met the president with Chandima Weerakkody, Minister of Petroleum & Petroleum Gas days back.

Apart from Kuruwegai, Padmasiri de Silva and Ranjith Munasinghe were elected from Democratic Party to the Southern Provincial Council in the 2013 provincial council election. Munasinghe has joined United National Party and de Silva is with former president’s party. It is rumored that Munasinghe will be appointed as a Galle District UNP organizer.
