Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) is being accused of the lack of transparency in dealing with complains against the organization by some activists. They state that terminating the tenure of the officer who created a policy on whistleblowers is the latest arbitrary move.
A complaint was made against Chief Executive Director Asoka Obeyesekere by three employees of TISL. Later, Ananda Jayasekara, one of these employees, had his services terminated.
Joseph Stalin, representative of the Coalition Against Corruption told BBC Sandeshaya that the termination of the services of one employee without examining the complaint is questionable. He further stated that human rights should be protected within the organizations which are voicing to protect them. The whistleblowers should be protected within anti-corruption organizations. It is a question about the integrity of the organization, he said.
Global Integrity Award winning journalist Poddala Jayantha also has sent a letter questioning the policy of the TISL, BBC Sandeshaya said.
TISL has issued a statement that both Joseph Stalin and Poddala Jayantha have intervened without knowing proper issue and written report will be issued on 29th August.
