Speaker Karu Jayasuriya placed his signature over the bill on the establishment of an Office of Missing Persons, thereby making it into law, Speaker's Office said earlier today.

The OMP Bill was passed on August 11 with amendments and without a vote. However, the 'Joint Opposition' claimed that the passing of the bill violated the Constitution and the Standing Orders of the Parliament.
