The program proposed by Chief Minister C. V. Vigneswaran to conduct medical checkups for rehabilitated LTTE members will be completed with all means as foreign countries are ready to provide necessary help, Member of Northern Provincial Council M.K. Sivajilingam said.
According to Shivajilingam, Chief Minister requested the American Air Force medical team who were conducting a medical camp in Idaikkadu, Jaffna, to give medical checkups to a group of ex-LTTE combatants submitted through the secretary of Chief Minister, last Saturday. But the request was denied by the doctors as they did not had proper medical equipment to perform the required tests, Sivajilingam maintained.
When the question was raised at the provincial council, the Chief Minister said that US Ambassador Atul Keshap agreed to the request, Sivajilingam also claimed.
Pacific Angels (American Air Force medical team) concluded the clinic on 19th after treating more than 2000 people. They donated remaining supply of medicine and medical equipment to Teaching Hospital Jaffna.
