Chief Minister of Northern Provincial Council C. V. Wigneswaran has shown his unhappiness towards Northern Province Governor’s actions regarding organizing an international investment forum in Jaffna.

He points out that the central government is routinely bypassing the Provincial Council, the Chief Minister and the Board of Ministers of the province.

Asked at a press conference on Thursday, whether the Chief Minister is on board with the forum, and whether the CM and the Provincial Council were involved in the organization of the event, Governor Reginald Cooray said that when the Chief Minister visited him on some other matter, he informed him about the forum and invited him for it. Governor further stated that “The Chief Minister had no objection to it”.

Northern Province Investor Forum 2016 is to be held on August 22nd in Jaffna with the participation of highest ranking officials of the government.
