Anuradhapura District UPFA MP Shehan Semasinghe yesterday slammed the Inspector-General of Police, alleging that he was acting as if he is a member of the UNP.

Semasinghe made this observation at a Joint Opposition press conference yesterday.

Semasinghe further stated that the government policy is to hunt down the members and political parties of the Joint Opposition and general public who join them. Inspector Generalog Police is directly responsible for this situation, Semasinghe added. He has no moral right to bend the law and threaten to punish opponents of the government, the MP said.

He further added that though the government claims that they have fulfilled much of what masses requested, general public is going through a difficult time.
